On June 15, 1999 our class had a writing celebration. This was a chance for the us to share our writing and all our hard work with our friends and family. At the celebration each of us read a piece of our writing. We spent a lot of time writing and rewriting our writing and practicing reading aloud. We all had jobs- we all put the books together, William made the invitation, Glenda video taped the readings, Natalie and her family helped set up the room, Mushahid was in charge of the music and we all had to introduce each other.

We invited students from other classes to read their writing with us. We invited our friends and family and students from other classes to be in the audience. We also invited the writer, Bino Realuyo to come. In the fall we went to see Bino read from his book The Umbrella Country. We loved the book and we decided to read it in our class. Since we went to his reading we wanted to invite him to come hear us read. We asked him to speak at the end of the night.

We put all of our writing together in a book. Everyone who came got a copy of the book. We all signed each others books on our writing. We had food, drink and music.
