Welcome! This summer, 15 adult literacy teachers and curriculum developers from states in the Northeastern U.S. gathered together for a unique, week-long training program on designing Web-based teaching resources for adult educators and/or their learners. This training was held from July 31 to August 4, 2000 at the Graduate Center of Marlboro College in Brattleboro, VT.
These
educators are now developing final prototypes of their projects. This Web
site is designed to be a connecting point for those participants, and as a
way to provide the literacy community and the general public with information
on our progress.
The Web Camp has been a partnership between the Literacy Assistance Center of New York City, the New England Literacy Resource Center at World Education, Boston's Adult Literacy Resource Institute, and Vermont Adult Learning. We hope that this innovative, grassroots approach to Web-based curriculum development will help the millions of adults in the United States who need improved basic literacy and English language skills but who cannot regularly attend classes or tutorials.
